Mackins Headlines Viking Qualifiers At Oregon PreviewPublished by
In his outdoor season debut, Portland
State junior sprinter Kenneth Mackins won the 100-meter dash in a Big
Sky Conference Outdoor Championship qualifying time of 10.91-seconds at
the Oregon Preview Saturday. Mackins?€™ performance headlined a total
of seven qualifying marks on the day for the Vikings. Sophomore Emily Phillips qualified for two events Saturday,
making the Big Sky Outdoor event in both the 100m and 400m hurdles. The
Spokane, Wash., native finished third in the shorter of the two races
with a time of 14.73, just behind senior Kerry-Ann Blackwood, who also
qualified with a second place, 14.62 performance. Phillips took second
in the 400m hurdles after crossing the line in 1:03.88. Middle distance stars Amanda Kamm and Staci Bielenberg will
also make their way to the championship meet in May as both athletes
finished six seconds past the conference qualifying standard with 4:34.
