Portland State's Outdoor Season In Full Swing, Vikings Visit Oregon SaturdayPublished by
Vikings?€™ Kerry-Ann Blackwood and Nate Boyer are
scheduled to make their outdoor season debuts when
Portland State?€™s track & field team heads to Eugene, Ore.,
for the University of Oregon Preview Saturday. Both
Blackwood and Boyer last competed at the Big Sky
Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24 and 25.
Blackwood, who placed third in the 60m hurdles final with
a school record tying time of 8.91-seconds, will take her
first strides toward defending her 2005 Big Sky title in the
100 meter hurdles. Boyer is penciled to run the 400m
after claiming fourth in the indoor 800. Junior Kenneth Mackins, the 2006 Big Sky 60m
Champion, hits the outdoors and the 100m in hopes of
carrying over his momentum from the indoor season.
Mackins ran two school record breaking flights in the 60m
championship before claiming the title with a time of
6.78, the sixth fastest finish in Big Sky history. The
Thousand Oaks, Calif., product current personal record in
the 100m is 10.79. Running the 400m hurdles this weekend is
sophomore Trevor Rollinger. Rollinger ran 54.40 in the
400m hurdles last weekend to at least secure an attempt
at repeating as Big Sky champion. Rollinger won the Big
Sky?€™s 2005 title with a personal best of 51.83. Peter Jason Tait, one of the Vikings?€™ most promising
freshmen, takes on the 110m hurdles and 100m, while
junior Brandon Lopez will either race the 1500m or
3000m. Read the full article at: www.goviks.com
